Great GPS with big beautiful screen, February 29, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Garmin n�vi 3590LMT 5-Inch Portable Bluetooth GPS Navigator with Lifetime Map and Traffic Updates (Electronics) I briefly owned a Nuvi 3490LMT and found it to be a great GPS. Shortly after I purchased the 3490LMT this 5" model was announced. I returned the 3490LMT and ordered the 3590LMT that very day. I am pleased to report that the Nuvi 3590LMT is also a great GPS navigator.

Very nice GPS, March 1, 2012 By This review is from: Garmin n�vi 3590LMT 5-Inch Portable Bluetooth GPS Navigator with Lifetime Map and Traffic Updates (Electronics) I owned an old model (Nuvi 660) for several years. It was top of the line when it came out (I paid ~$350 for the Nuvi 660). I upgraded to this one and I am extremely impressed.
3D map detail is awesome (I have only seen terrain so far, no buildings... but it's cool), screen resolution is awesome, GUI is great, touch response is great, start-up is instant, satellite finding is fast... all big improvements over my old model. It is exactly what you would expect out of a $400 GPS.
I don't have an Android phone so I couldn't try the SmartLink app... looks like a cool feature though.

I said I wouldn't get another PND..., March 3, 2012 By This review is from: Garmin n�vi 3590LMT 5-Inch Portable Bluetooth GPS Navigator with Lifetime Map and Traffic Updates (Electronics) I have a Nuvi 1490 5in PND and swore I would not get another stand alone unit (1: because my car has NAV built in and 2: I have nav on my iPhone). However, I was intrigued by the 3D view and the higher resolution screen and I still like to bring along a separate PND when I use rental cars for work.
This is a nice unit but is underwhelming compared to the 1490. I've owned Garmin navigation products for about 15 years and several Nuvi's in particular (300, 600, 700, 1400 series). Garmin has been removing software features over the years from the Nuvi units in order to differentiate and create more product lines and also to "simply" the user experience. For example, I like a lot of detail on the maps but newer units show fewer streets and labels than before (to reduce clutter I suppose).
