I wanted good sound, bluetooth music streaming as well as hands-free with an external mic, a subwoofer connection, the ability to use it on the road without worrying about complex menus, and the ability to easily switch back and forth from my wife's phone to mine. After checking out reviews, user manuals, and playing with a few models in-store this guy won handily.
I've been nothing but happy with it so far. We can switch easily between phones, it displays our names and all we have to do is click on the phone we want to use. The GPS works great, the sound is lovely, and the UI is snappy. We tested several units in the store that were sluggish, but this guy responded quickly to all our button presses. A responsive UI is a requirement for me, I want to spend as little time thinking about my radio as possible while I'm driving.
Something I found neat, is that when I hook the iPhone up via USB, album art... Read more
8 of 8 people found the following review helpful You can't beat this radio, July 25, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: JVC KWNT30HD 6.1-Inch 2-DIN Navigation Touch HD Radio (Electronics) I have used this JVC radio for 3 months now and I really like the features. I got the IPOD cable and a backup camera to use with this radio. I have been happy with the functions of the radio and after getting use to the GPS, I have found it to be as acurrate as the Garmin I have used for years. There are a few things I would like the GPS to do that I think a software update would fix, 1 is to have the speed limit of my vehicle displayed, 2 is to have the GPS work automatically with time zones when trips arrival times and the system time is set. The GPS system knows this data, so why not display it on the screen. Once I got familiar with the menus it is fairly easy to move between functions, but it does take a little time to get through the screens because there are so many features. The back up camera I purchased failed within 3 days, but the camera manf. replaced it with no problem. The radio installed fairly easy in my 2007 Ford Fusion, however the GPS link cable barely made... Read more
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Marred by a serious software deficiency in Navi, April 24, 2012 By This review is from: JVC KWNT30HD 6.1-Inch 2-DIN Navigation Touch HD Radio (Electronics) Having previously owned a KNX-7000 I was really excited to get hold of the new JVC Navi. JVC tends to offer a lot of features for the dollar.
Unfortunately, once up and running, I discovered a software deficiency that I deem as so fundamental that it took the KW from a 5 star to a 1 star rating. Stated simply, the JVC does not allow you to view your routes as text.
Just about any GPS on the planet will allow you to view a listing of the proposed route. This is critical as any GPS will at times propose a route that makes no sense. Equally important, you often want to see that after exiting route XYZ, you will be making a left turn on Maple Street.
The JVC does offer have what they call "route simulation" but this is a slow process whereby it runs through the route in fast forward, voice prompts and all. Again, no way to simply look and see if the route makes sense or what lies ahead.
The earlier JVC Navis did not have this deficiency. I... Read more
